Phil Schiller as CEO of Apple August 7, 2007

I am following Apple Inc. since my teenage years and when Steve was back in 1997, I was one of the most happy mac fan ever. I don’t really know why, since I was only 14 and I never heard of Steve Jobs before but I guess I was a victim of “the cult of the mac”. When I first saw Phil Schiller, I was like “Who’s this, dude?” (teenage years…)

Looking back, I realize that Steve is preparing the field for the next generation. Introduced at a MacWorld conference, Phil first appearance last a few minutes only. Since then, Phil has been on stage more and more, and participate actively in every conference. You can see that Steve is putting a lot more responsabilities on other directors more than ever and probably due to his pancreatic cancer in 2004.

At the beginning (1997…), Steve was alone on the stage and a few people were invited on stage. Except maybe some partners… Now, if you look at the last WWDC conference, we had the chance to see not 1, not 2, but 3 renown Apple employees on stage.

Phil Schiller, Senior Vice-President Worldwide Product Marketing
Jonathan Ive, Senior Vice-President Industrial Design
And that particularly young software engineer who showed us the new OS X Leopard features like Time Machine. Sadly, I don’t recall his name but he was really good on stage.
